Sharon and Dave’s Christmas wedding in the Galway Bay Hotel Salthill.

As a result of Covid 19, couples have had a difficult time trying to plan a wedding. The restrictions with numbers are continuously changing with a result that there have been a lot of uncertainty for them resulting in postponements/cancellations. I was delighted therefor to hear from Sharon letting me know that they were going to go ahead with their big day in the Galway Bay Hotel.

Wedding Morning at the Galway Bay Hotel

Sharon’s preparations took place in the Galway Bay Hotel on wedding morning and she was accompanied by her bridesmaids Lorraine, Niamh and Sandra…great girls!! It was also great to meet Brian Guilfoyle of Two Paws Video who was looking after the video side of things. It was my first time meeting Brian and he was a gentleman to work with! We enjoyed the banter with the ladies on wedding morning and fair play to them for being ready in plenty of time…no last minute stresses as a result!!

Groomsmen Preparations in the Salthill Hotel

As the girls were ready in plenty of time, it afforded me the opportunity to nip across the road to the Salthill Hotel where Dave and his merry men stayed the previous night. Thankfully the lads were in good form and it was an enjoyable few minutes spent with them. Dave was accompanied by his best man Niall and his groomsmen Johnny & Seamie! We had a bit of GAA banter and I’m grateful to the lads for being accommodating with regards to the camera….it normally doesn’t work out that way on wedding morning with the lads!

Civil Ceremony Galway Bay Hotel

Sharon & Dave’s Civil ceremony took place in the Ballyvaughan Suite in the Galway Bay…indeed this was where our wedding reception took place many years ago. It’s a lovely setting for any ceremony and the room looked majestic….indeed it sounded majestic too with the excellent Sarah McWeeney providing the music and signing…she was class.
The ceremony was a very relaxed affair and afterward we headed outside to the memorial gardens for some photos while the sun was shining. It’s such a bonus to have dry conditions for a wedding in December….but when you add in the winter sunshine that we got too, it was awesome. Sharon and Dave are two good people…..relaxed and good humored…the type of people I’d imagine that enjoy themselves whatever the occasion. People feed of their positivity and any wedding supplier would love to work with them on wedding day! They were entirely deserving of the fine weather on December 29th!

We took a quick stroll across to the Prom after our visit to the memorial gardens…something I always enjoy doing. The goodwill extended to couples on their wedding day is always a joy to witness. Add in the moody skies that Galway Bay often offers up and it’s always a worth while stroll!

We made our way back to the hotel where we did some family portraits in the library before Sharon and Dave spent time relaxing with families and friends.

many thanks Sharon & Dave for trusting me with your wedding photography. I thoroughly enjoyed your big day and I wish you both the very best for the future!!
