Sinead and Paul were unlucky to get married on possible the wettest day of the year.
As often happens however, those days can also be the best of days too….and I think all the guests felt that way too!

Wedding Morning in the Lodge At Ashford

I was a like a drowned rat by the time I got to the door of the Lodge from the Car Park…unbelievable horizontal rain and such a pity given the splendid setting that The Lodge at Ashford has on the banks of the Corrib.

I was looking forward to meeting up with Sinead again….we got on very well when we first met up last year, but ….if I’m being truthfully honest, I was smitten by her beautiful daughter Sarah during that meeting…such a treasure!
She’s such a jolly little lady and indeed was like a mini bride in her beautiful Flowergirl Dress…chances are that Sinead was going to have some stiff competition on wedding day!

Sinead displayed no signs of nerves on her big day and I enjoyed chatting with her in the beauty rooms as well as the bridal rooms on wedding morning. A very grounded lady whose company I felt totally at ease with and despite the bad start to the day with the weather, I was entirely looking forward to the rest of it and indeed what it would offer us!

It was also a treat to hook up with Max from Films By Max whom was looking after the video side of things…..a good guy and indeed I enjoy working with him. His company along with that of Sineads Bridesmaids Marie, Eilis and Rachel made a very pleasant start to wedding day.

Civil Ceremony in the Lodge

Just before the ceremony, I met up with Paul and his groomsmen Brian, John and Mark….they were hydrating in the bar just before the ceremony….hydration is extremely important on wedding day!! The lads were in flying form and you can feel the positive energy coming from them….good lads and great craic!

Sinead was punctual for the beautiful ceremony which was exceptionally laid back and relaxed. I loved witnessing young Sarah strolling around and enjoying herself…every now and again gazing up at her parents possibly wondering what was going on and why was there a large crowd in the room!

After the ceremony, Sinead and John’s plans were to head outside and maybe even a spin to Cong for some wedding photos….but as mentioned earlier, you wouldn’t put a milk bottle outside it was so horrific so instead they enjoyed the company of family and friends. They were able to mingle and relax, and Sinead didn’t have to worry about her dress getting dirty!!

We did some Family Portraits in between the relaxing and when the bell rang for the meal just after 5pm, we were able to use the front room in the Lodge for some photos with the bridal party. The shoot was a bit later than I’m used to doing on wedding day but thankfully everything panned out okay despite the horrific weather outside! Thanks to Sinead and Paul for their time during this shoot….very accommodating and wonderful to be around!

Music in the Lodge At Ashford

After the meal and speeches, the superb Weightless Astronauts arrived on the scene and started setting up. Again I loved witnessing flowergirl Sarah and the positive effect she had on all wedding guests on the big day. She took a strong liking to Rory Bohan’s drum set when the band were setting up and again it was pretty cool to see her having a bash on it and indeed playing a bit of electric guitar too. She has the most wonderful of dance moves too and I think the photos show how enthralled everybody was with her.

Thanks so much Sinead and Paul for trusting me with your wedding photography. It was the most enjoyable of days and I loved being around you and your little lady!
Stay safe during these times guys and please God we’ll cross paths again in the bear future!!
