Grace and John’s wedding took place on a majestic day in Connemara earlier this summer. Although I had passed through Ballynahinch on a few occasions, I’d never photographed a wedding there so was looking forward to same. Luckily, although it was a showery wedding morning, the weather picked up in the afternoon which enabled us to take some images in this majestic setting, and in particular, the tiered gardens at the back of the hotel.
Wedding Morning in Ballynahinch
The excellent Aisling Kelly was responsible for ensuring the girls looked the part and indeed it’s always a pleasure to cross paths with Aisling on wedding days.
As both Grace and John were both getting ready in the Castle, I was in a position to pop between the two rooms and grab some images of both preps….something that doesn’t normally happen.
Wedding Ceremony Cashel, Connemara
The ceremony took place about 15 minutes away in Cashel Church and unusually it was a relatively late ceremony at 2.30pm. The views from the church grounds were pretty awesome and the music inside the church was equally as impressive as the views outside with the superb Ailbhe Hession responsible for same. I love crossing paths with Ailbhe on wedding days…..a very positive and jovial person and those around her feed of same….truly top notch performer!
After the ceremony, and being conscious of the time (4.30pm when all the guests left the church), we made the spin back to Ballynahinch and shot some family and bridal portraits before the bell for the meal was rung. The Castle and it’s grounds truly looked awesome and it’s a credit to whomever looks after the landscapes there for it’s excellent presentation. Pa Sheil’s from More Cowbell was also entertaining the guests back in the hotel and indeed I thoroughly enjoyed his music selection…..my vintage indeed!
Thanks to Management and staff for their welcome and hospitality and please God I’ll be there in the future to shoot some more….the opportunities there are truly endless.
Grace and John, thanks for trusting me with your wedding photography and please God we’ll cross paths again in the near future!
