Karina and Adrian were recently married in Lanesborough Co Longford with a wedding reception in the Hodson Bay Hotel Athlone.
I met Karina and Adrian a couple of weeks before the wedding when they called to Headford for a chat. I really enjoyed their company and although Adrian was up front about not enjoying having his photo taken, I was comfortable in their company and knew we’d get through the day fine.
Wedding Morning in Lanesborosgh Co Longford
Weather wise, the day was throwing everything at us as I made the journey to Karina’s home just outside Lanesborough in Co Longford. Some sunshine, and some showers….a typical Irish day but thankfully in between the showers it was a grand day and I was optimistic for our photo shoot after the ceremony.
I drove to Karina’s home Via Mountbellew in order to collect her wedding Flowers from Miland’s Flowers in Mountbellew…ironically we crossed paths three weeks in a row!
Karina was the picture of relaxation when I arrived. Hair and Make Up were completed and she was chilling out in her kitchen with her sister and Made Of Honor Ashley (whose wedding I’m looking forward to shooting in the future) as well as bridesmaids Kayleigh (Adrian’s sister) and the crack pot that is Catriona!
Although I call Catriona names in jest, in truth she’s a massive asset to any wedding….the type of girl that squeezes every drop of enjoyment and fun from a day and extremely lovely lady and character to spend a wedding day with…thanks Catriona!
Thanks so much too to Karina’s parents Mike and Mary…lovely grounded people who very very welcoming on wedding day!
Adrian’s Preparations took place in his home in Moylough Co Galway and thanks very much to the excellent Deirdre Langan for covering all of his photography needs on wedding morning.
Wedding Ceremony St Mary’s Church Lanesborough Co Longford
After catching Karina’s preparations, I made the short journey to St Mary’s Church in Longford where I hooked up with Adrian and his brothers/groomsmen Damien and Eoin. We hadn’t got long to wait for Karina’s prompt arrival and I was also happy to cross paths with the gentleman that is Fr Ray Burns who I had bumped into the previous week in Moylough for the first time. Fr Ray was con celebrating the mass with local priest Fr Michael Reilly.
The ceremony was beautiful with wonderful music provided by the excellent Simon Casey.
After the ceremony, the rain was coming down and we availed of the shelter of the church for the family portraits…and as luck would have it, the day was brightening up somewhat when we had finished.
We made the very short spin to Ballyleague Marina and did some photography there…as well as having a picnic and some hydration! Thanks to the bridal party of their time and efforts here…spirits were good and even though Adrian wasn’t fond of having the camera pointed at him, he was very amenable and worked with me!
Wedding Reception Hodson Bay Hotel
Our final port of call was the Hodson Bay Hotel and we arrived there not long after 3.30pm…pretty early considering our drive from Lanesborough.
Karina and Adrian had plenty of time to mingle with family and friends after their arrival. The Hodson Bay is a fine Hotel and we had a few rooms available to us had the weather being poor…but luckily we had most of our photography work done prior to arriving at the hotel.
We had a mighty evening and indeed Catriona ensured that she brought a lot of energy to the dancefloor….the place was literally hopping when I was finished with everyone on mighty spirits!
Thanks so much Karina and Adrian for trusting me with your wedding photography. I really enjoyed your day and please God we’ll cross paths again before Ashley’s big day!
