Joe-Ann and Cian had a lot of things go right for them for their wedding in the Lodge at Ashford Cong.

The Lodge is set in the most majestic setting in Cong Mayo, and fortunately for Joe-Ann and Cian, they had the most splendid of weather to show it all off!

Wedding Morning in the Lodge at Ashford

Joe-Ann and Cian both got ready on wedding morning in the Lodge. I was a happy man arriving with Joe-Ann, indeed the nature that was on display outside the Lodge was breathtaking and I was hoping that it would last for the remainder of the day. Joe-Ann was ably assisted by her sister and chief bridesmaid Sarah on wedding morning along with her mum Ann. I really enjoyed wedding morning with the girls and there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Joeanne Kelly was looking after hair and Aoife Callaghan was looking after all thinks Make Up. Two great girls who had everyone ready in plenty of time on wedding morning.

Joe-Ann’s mum Anne regaled some colorful stories of her wedding day…her honest and direct reasons behind weddings in a bygone era in Ireland, and it was simply wonderful to listen to. She was a treat to listen to and indeed a person that I would love to have a pint with (…I rarely drink)! She exuded positivity and calmness …a brilliant trait for any wedding!

Wedding Ceremony in Kiltevna Dunmore

I made the journey to the beautiful Village of Kiltevna just outside of Dunmore Co Galway. Cian was in good spirits (as he was all day) and was being looked after by his brother and Best Man Dara. The church looked awesome, the work of Samatha and Louise from Seamus’ Flower Sundries …great work girls! The church also sounded awesome with Jenny O’Brien looking after the music side of things.

We didn’t have long to wait for the punctual Joe-Ann to arrive. It was pretty cool to witness her having a moment with her Dad Joe shortly before getting out of their wedding car. Being a dad myself, I love witnessing these moments and hope I’ll be a healthy man and in a position to look after my daughter the same way Joe did….those moments always cause a dry throat!!

The ceremony was beautiful…a very relaxed and timely one and all of the guests were able to enjoy the Indian Summer Sunshine that we were experiencing afterwards.
I’m a big fan of capturing Family Portraits at churches…it can be a lot more chaotic trying to do this back at the hotel. We used the shelter of the church for a handful of bridal portraits too (a bit of a breeze picked up) before Joe-Ann and Cian took a stroll down a beautiful country road in Kiltevna. Vinny O’Sullivan was looking after all thinks video and both of us were pretty happy with the footage that we captured here.

Wedding Photography in Cong Mayo.

We made the journey back to Cong for a brief photshoot…and why not! Cong is truly a majestic spot, and abundance of nature in one area and simply a treat for wedding photography. We strolled along the riverside and shared the banter, and enjoyed each others company while grabbing some photos and Video at the same time before making our final short journey to the Lodge At Ashford

Wedding Reception the Lodge At Ashford

It must have been a pretty cool feeling for Joe-Ann and Cian to arrive at the Lodge and see all of their wedding guests in the summer sunshine enjoying themselves. I’m sure that when you book any wedding venue that has the landscape that the Lodge has, you would be really wishing for same….well someone was looking out for these newlyweds!!

Sean Rowland was entertaining wedding guests with a wonderful array of tunes on the piano and there truly was a super atmosphere at the lodge. Joe-Ann and Cian relaxed with family and a short while later, the bell called everyone for the meal.

After dinner, we nipped outside with Joe-Ann and Cian along with some family members and grabbed some sparkler photos and enjoyed the lovely dusk lighting of the Lodge. Everything about the day was truly memorable and wonderful to witness…mainly because of how approachable and affable both Joe-Ann and Cian were. It’s a gift to be able to trust your wedding suppliers and simply enjoy your wedding day and they had buckets of this gift!

Thanks so much Joe-Ann and Cian for trusting me with your wedding photography and I’ll look forward to us crossing paths again.
