Ciara and Ronan were recently married on a beautiful summer’s day in Cong Mayo.
The Lodge At Ashford is less than ten minutes from my home, and this is one of the reasons that I enjoy shooting there. The other reason has to do with the awesome landscape/vista that Cong offers, it’s truly wonderful for photographers. When arriving in the Lodge on wedding morning, the conditions were perfect for wedding photography. No breeze and a small bit of cloud cover….I was happy out calling to Ciara!

Wedding Morning in the Lodge At Ashford

Ciara’s preparations took place in the Lodge on wedding morning. Ciara was a bundle of positive energy, really good to be around and before she was even in her address or fully made up, she looked awesome!
I cross paths quite a lot with the lady that is Helga Kampff who was looking after everything hair related and Ciara had the excellent Ally McGinn looking after make up. The two girls are brilliant and had Ciara along with her mum Bridey and her two bridesmaids Heather and Fiona ready in plenty of time on wedding day.

The Lodge in Ashford is a wonderful spot, and indeed the bridal Suite where Ciara finished off her preparations was stunning. Add in the wonderful flowers that Noelle Harney from The Wedding Flower had arranged and we were off to the most splendid of wedding day’s!

We had plenty of time for some family and bridal portraits before making the very short spin to Cong Church. Ciara and Ronan had a cool Campervan offering a shuttle service for wedding guests too and from Cong…really cool!

Wedding Ceremony in Mary of The Rosary Church, Cong.

Ronan was in good form with his groomsmen Brian, Kevin and Niall when I arrived. Ciara and Ronan had selected a 2pm Ceremony, slightly later than normal but as we had no distance to travel back to the wedding venue, it made sense. I was a small bit apprehensive about how the day would pan out time wise. I shouldn’t have fretted however as Fr Charlie from Westport ran a very efficient wedding ceremony….fair play Fr Charlie!

After his entertaining ceremony, we used the wonderful piece of nature out the back of the church to capture some family portraits as well as some bridal work. Cong looked splendid on Ciara and Ronan’s day and given the weather that we were experiencing, there truly was no better place to do some wedding portraits. We strolled down to the Monks House (beautiful old ruin in the middle of a river) for some images…it’s a popular spot with tourists, but bride and grooms are always extended the courtesy of making it their own for some images.

When we finished in Cong, we let the bridesmaids and groomsmen back to the the Lodge before Ciara and Ronan took a brief stroll in the grounds of Ashford Castle. It’s a majestic setting and the landscaped gardens and lawns are distractedly beautiful. We didn’t delay here too long before making out final short spin to the Lodge

Wedding Reception The Lodge At Ashford

How lovely it was for Ciara to arrive back in the Lodge with their guests enjoying the refreshments outside. They had the most wonderful views of Lough Corrib as their backdrop and Ciara and Ronan received a lovely warm welcome back.

I was delighted that we had plenty of time to run off shots with their guests and friends before we were called in for the meal. Everything had run smoothly for us and I was delighted with what we got from Ciara and Ronan’s big day.
Thanks very much guys for trusting me with your big day. I enjoyed your company and I wish you both the very best in the future…please God we’ll cross paths soon again.
