Congratulations to all of Presentation College Headford’s students who experienced their Debs Ball yesterday (July 9th).
For the past 10 years, I’ve been setting up a studio in The Anger Rest Hotel in Headford on the day of the Debs and taking photos as requested. I enjoy the day….it’s a great social event in The Anglers with a lot of proud parents seeing off their “not so young ones”.

This year our own daughter Lauren was heading off with her friends. It’s a right of passage for the students, but also a right of passage for the parents. Your child is presented as an adult and it’s another loosening of the knot that binds them to you as kids. It’s a bitter sweet feeling. I try and celebrate that they’re healthy and will be living their own independent lives quite soon. Yet the heart pangs of not wanting to let them go, always want them to be home with you, want to see their faces every night before they go to bed, want to see them first thing in the morning when you wake up, want to keep sharing and experiencing the joy that they bring to your home.

I’m really grateful to have a healthy and beautiful daughter. Although she’s now a young woman/lady, she’ll always be my little girl.
