Belleek Castle Winter Wedding
Rachel and James were married in Knockmore Church just outside Ballina Mayo with a reception in Belleek Castle. Rachel is a lady who is a bubble of positive energy. I loved being in her company as well as that of her bridesmaids Lisa and Clodagh (…who co-incidentally had another John McMahon in her life). Preparations took place in the beautiful family home as you enter Ballina from the Foxford side and it was lovely to bump into the familiar faces of Dave Sneddon from All West Video, Jacqueline looking after all things hair, and Amanda Conlon looking after Make Up.
Winter weddings can sometimes be challenging. Sometimes it’s so wet and windy that all photos from wedding day are indoors. Well this Christmas Wedding was quite the opposite! Beautiful mild weather with pockets of sunshine supplied all day long….not what you’d expect for an Irish wedding in December.
I love Christmas and Rachel’s home had plenty of decorations letting us know that it was the festive season. Thanks very much to her mum and dad too Adrienne and Padriag for their warm welcome. Dad Padraig was used to dealing with wedding suppliers such as photographers, indeed her chauffeured many a couple to their wedding destination…lovely man to chat with.
Knockmore Church was the venue for the church ceremony and indeed where I bumped into James and his team of Kevin, Noel and Brian.
A good group of guys and indeed we had some craic when doing our photo shoot after the ceremony back in belleek. We used Belleek Forrest for a handful of images of Rachel and the girls before allowing they arrived next door in the castle.
After a small bit of hydration, we used the gardens of the castle for some images with the bridal party…..it’s a lovely spot for photos. I really enjoyed the laid back vibe we were experiencing during the shoot…helps me immensely on a wedding day when you have a couple as positive as Rachel and James as well as a happy out bridal party!!
As we skipped the family portraits at the church, we headed inside the castle to grab them as well as giving Rachel and James plenty of time with their family and friends to relax, mingle and absorb their wedding day.
Thoroughly enjoyed your wedding day Rachel and James and I really hope we have the opportunity to cross paths in the future. Until then, mind yourselves!!
Some photos of the day below and a photo slideshow can be viewed at the bottom of the page.
