Everything about Denise and Patrick’s wedding was epic in the Hodson Bay Hotel Athlone….truly loved being in their company and feeding of the positive energy that they both emitted all day!! The most of enjoyable of wedding days from my point of view are the ones that flow…everybody singing off the same hymn sheet, know what time we’re allocating for different parts of the day, couples and their bridal party are positive fun loving and approachable people…and no signs of stress from anyone!! Denise and Patrick took the time to call to me the week before the wedding…and we chatted about what and where they wanted to do photography on their big day. This is always a great help for me…we build up a relationship before the wedding, we’re not strangers on the big day, we’ve a rough plan of what we want from the day, and then we stick as close as we can to the plan. What was great about Denise and Patrick was not just how we pretty much stuck to their plan….but rather the energy that that they gave to the whole day which made every facet of their wedding pretty awesome to witness and indeed experience! Denise was accompanied by the brilliant bridesmaids that were Fiona, Caroline and Nicole on wedding morning…and when I arrived at her home in Bannagher, I also met the gentleman that is Will Royal from WCR Media who was looking after the video side of things. A good guy, good company, and a team player which all added to the most of enjoyable of wedding days. I also enjoyed the company of Denise’s mum Mary…indeed Will and I seemed to chat with her quite a bit on wedding morning..such a lovely lady! Denise was ready in plenty of time on her big day…this allowed me to head off to the church with plenty of time to grab some images of Patrick and his groomsmen Brendan, Michael and Hughie! The lads couldn’t have been more receptive to having a few shots before the ceremony…indeed a breath of fresh air to work with all the positivity and I was so glad for them too that the weather was playing ball on their big day! The superb Colin Fahy was responsible for the wonderful tones reverberating around the church for the ceremony…Colin’s a class act, and indeed he’s another man that I find it all to easy to chat with and indeed he can be a distraction to me as a result…but all in a good way!!! After the ceremony, Denise and Patrick’s guests availed of the refreshments that they had arranged outside the church, ice creams, teas and coffees and lovely snacks…factor in the good weather and everybody was in terrific form! We had a short spin to the preferred location on the banks of the Shannon…and this is where it truly was a treat to grab some images of the newlyweds ….. everything was effortless and they truly were just enjoying each others company…no energy was spent trying to cajole them into things….indeed all the energy was coming from the two of them and I’m very sincere in saying it’s truly awesome to be around people like this and recording their life event. We made the journey to the Hodson Bay Hotel in Athlone…a wonderful spot and indeed a sister hotel to one of my all time favorites, the Galway Bay Hotel. Denise and Patrick had plenty of time to mingle with family and friends before the meal….and after same, I asked them if they were into giving photos another 5 minutes out the back of the hotel….and again there was no cajoling them into it….they threw themselves into it and we ran off some nice shots…thanks guys!! Eden was the band that had the floor packed for the remainder of the evening…excellent stuff! In actual fact, they had the floor full before the dancing started…first time I saw a band conduct a quiz with the newly weds and it was pretty entertaining and funny stuff! Thanks Denise and Patrick for selecting me with regards to your wedding photography. You were truly a treat to be with…and unfortunately not every wedding day runs as flawlessly as your own so I embrace them when they come along! I wish you both the very best for the future and please God we’ll cross paths again in the future! Some images from the day below and a photo slideshow can be viewed at them bottom of the page.
