Caoilfhionn and Stephen’s wedding took place last Christmas in St Joseph’s Church Galway followed by a fantastic wedding reception in Hotel Meyrick.
A truly enjoyable and memorable day with fantastic wedding suppliers and the best of wedding parties!
Caoilfhionn’s wedding preparations took place in Hotel Meyrick in the heart of Galway. I love working there….a Hotel full of team players and always good craic and banter with the staff…it’s simply a very welcoming place!
Caoilfhionn had bridesmaids Kate, Anna and Nóinín helping her on wedding morning….great ladies who were in mighty spirits! As a bride, I’m sure it helps immensely when your surrounded by positive ladies like this…wanting to squeeze every bit of positive energy that the could from wedding day. At all times they had smiles on their faces and were always there for their best friend Caoilfhionn.
It was a pleasant surprise also to bump into Helga Kampff who was looking after the hair on wedding morning. Helga is a lady and we always have good chin wags and hugs when we bump into each other. Unfortunately we didn’t cross paths as much as we usually do last year….but it made it a lovely treat seeing her on Caoilfhionn and Stephen’s big day….she’s such a lady.
The Excellent Anne Marie Fahy was looking after everything make up related and is always a treat to work with too! Helga and Anne Marie had Caoilfionn and all the ladies looking smashing on wedding day, but more importantly, they went about their work as they always do in an efficient but very calm way….a dream start for any bride on wedding day. Caoilfhionn looked truly awesome in her dress (Belladonna Bridal)….Stephen was going to be one lucky man!
As Stephen was also getting ready in Hotel Meyrick, I was able to nip into him and meet up with his groomsmen Aonghus, Máirtín and Cillian. I’ve mentioned it in previous blogs, I love the Irish language and wish I could speak it fluently. Stephen and the lads were speaking it fluently and it’s sounds awesome to me. Normally the groomsmen aren’t as receptive to the camera on wedding morning as the ladies are….and although we didn’t delay long getting photos, I was grateful to the lads for being so warm and welcoming on wedding morning.
They strolled from Hotel Meyrick down to St Joseph’s Church while I grabbed my car (containing all my equipment) and made the short journey. Caoilfhionn and Stephen were so lucky with the weather we were getting. Granted we were having a cold snap, but it was dry and not too windy…great to be experiencing that in December!
Always a pleasure to bump into Rob Treston from Aisle Love You at the church. Rob is super at his job and really brings church decor to a new level…and we also engage in some chit chats that also make wedding days more enjoyable.
The ceremony was beautiful, and punctual which is always a good thing for wedding guests! We did some family portraits in the church after the guests had left as well as a about 5 minutes of photos with the bridal party. One of things that Caoilfhionn and Stephen requested on their wedding day was not to be gone too long taking photos. They decided to let their bridal party back to the hotel to enjoy the reception while we nipped out to the Prom in Salthill for a few photos. With both Caoilfhionn and Stephen being from Aran, they wanted to get a couples of images with the sea in the background and the Prom in Galway was the ideal spot. It was fresh but dry and we spent no longer then 5 or 6 minutes grabbing some shots there before heading back to Hotel Meyrick with one brief stop at the Claddagh for a couples of images.
We arrived back at Hotel Meyrick with Caoilfhionn and Stephen getting to spend over an hour and a half with their wedding guests before the bell was rung for the meal. While the bell was rung and guests were making their way to the function room, the bridal party nipped outside for a few sparkler shots….great craic! As we were on the steps of the hotel and taking in the wonderful view of the Christmas Market, the entire party cross the road for a quick stroll and take in the wonderful Christmas vibes that were there. I love these walks…love witnessing the goodwill that’s extended to wedding couples from shoppers and locals.
Thanks Caoilfhionn and Stephen (and of course the best flowergirl ever Alannah) for being such wonderful people to be around on wedding day.
Tá sibh fear & bean uasal agus go raibh míle maith agat don lá a chaith mé agaibh!
