Olivia and Declan’s wedding as a classic…..both of them were in a brilliant “headspace”…. simply let the handbrake off (…no pun intended Dec) and rocked with whatever their big day threw at them!
A wedding day is always enjoyable if the newlyweds enjoy themselves…everyone feeds off their positive energy and this happened for Olivia and Declan’s big day in the Castlecourt Hotel Westport.!
They made the good decision of going with a 12.30 ceremony….with the reception in the Castlecourt Hotel being approximately an hour away, Olivia and Declan factored this into their timings and the 12.30 ceremony allowed them time with family and friends at the hotel prior to the bell being run for the meal.
Olivia’s home was a very welcoming one on wedding morning….thanks to mum Mary and dad Tommy for their warm welcome. I couldn’t help but think of the Sawdoctors song “Joyce Country Ceilí band”…with “Tommy and Mary out on the floor”….I admired observing their relationship on wedding morning with the two of them sharing the odd sneaky kiss….the type of thing that you hope to experience yourself in your later years in life….fair play to you both Tommy & Mary….a breath of fresh air to experience same!
Olivia and her bridesmaids Lourda & Majella were being looked after on wedding morning by Natalie Kyne from Vision Hair Salon and Louise McDonagh from MesmerEyes Make Up who did a fantastic job of both making the girls look as awesome as they did, but also for doing it in a fun and laid back manner which always helps everyone on wedding mornings.
Olivia looked stunning in her unique dress…totally suiting her and supplied by Vintage Pearl in Galway…well done Olivia, great choice!!
After Olivia’s preparations, I made the short journey to the church to catch up with Declan and his groomsmen Ronan & Jason. Fair play to them, they were into their photography and we got the opportunity to run off shots promptly before their guests arrived…doesn’t always run as smoothly as that!
John Murphy of Avalon Video was also at the church looking after the video side of things. John is a neighbor, a good friend, and someone that I work well with…we always seem to get half decent footage when working together….and it was a bonus to be working together with such a willing couple!
There was an array of all type of automobiles outside of Caherlistrane Church…from rally cars to tractors….all looking well and in sync with the character that Declan is!
Olivia arrived punctually to the church… the hands of U2R1 Wedding Cars. Fr Pat looked after the ceremony…always informal and approachable, thanks Fr Pat for that! The ceremony also had a surprise in store for Olivia when her sister Lourda grabbed the microphone and sang a song after communion…a lovely moment that pulled on Olivia and Declan’s heart strings…indeed a bit of dust getting caught in their throats… lol!!!
There was also a pleasant surprise for their guests when the ceremony was over…refreshments were supplied by Brown Bag Donuts…a delicious treat that helped guests keep their energy levels up!!
After the family portraits, we made the spin to Cong and it’s majestic landscape for a bridal shoot. Cong is a super spot…it offers all type of photo opportunities and all types of nature on display…rivers, mature trees, stone walls/arches and even stone houses built on rivers!
John Murphy and I really enjoyed the energy from the bridal party and we spent a while longer than we normally do here taking photos…it was hard to stop when we were having fun!
Our final journey was to the Castlecourt in Westport…my favorite hotel in Mayo to work in! Vinny and his team are true team players…they communicate so well with wedding vendors and always work “with you” as opposed to “against you”.
The weather was super and all of Olivia and Declan’s guests enjoyed both hydrating and nourishing themselves outside ion the Courtyard of the Castlecourt…such a treat to be able to do this in Ireland”’although we’ve had a great summer so far, not everyone gets to experience this!
Thank you Olivia and Declan for being the people that ye were on your wedding day…and indeed thank you for trusting me with your wedding photography. Thoroughly enjoyed your company, and indeed that of your families and I wish you both the very best for the future!
